(by equal I mean all the notes and MIDI information like velocity is the same)

Longer story..
So sometimes I'll program a drum beat in via a MIDI item. Maybe it might be 4 bars. I tend to just copy and paste this across the timeline, then I'll sometimes make changes to the midi items and make variations..
Note: This isn't just a DRUM thing for me though. It would be useful for any sort of MIDI, it just is a more common problem when I'm doing drums.

Then I might suddenly change things up a bit and decide that I need to change velocity on several notes, or I might change out the drum VSTi with something else, and may need to move notes around to line up with different triggers the new VSTi uses.

I'll find myself sometimes thinking.. "is this MIDI item the exact same as the one before it, or did I vary it in some way?"

A MIDI compare script of some sort to compare selected MIDI items would be handy. Does such a thing exist?

I'm sure my workflow isn't the best, but it's what I'm used to, and it's hard to teach this old dog new tricks sometimes. But that might be a worthwhile approach too - suggestions of better way of doing this. I could do something like rename items, but I can rely on myself remembering to do that.
