An old industry quote. It's safe to say that whoever coined this term wasn't a forward thinker. A finite planet can only dilute so much and remember, dilution isn't detoxification. Dilution is accumulation.
I guess it all depends on what type of solutions you're looking for. This quote only a solution for the industry, to allows it to keep polluting without fines and government intervention.
If we were to find a motto for a solution that minimizes the negative effects of pollution it would sound more like this:
"The solution to pollution is in reduction"
I know, it doesn't rhyme like the original but it is much more practical. We can look at these 2 quotes like steps in the right direction. Before them, pollution was fake news.
We know that's not the case and we also know that before we knew this we didn't know this. Knowing this it would be lazy and unproductive for us to point fingers and place blame in hopes of change. Holding ourselves accountable and taking responsibility for where we find ourselves today is our only chance to properly detoxify our land, for now and for long after the industry is gone.
