A renegade group of entrepreneurs who promised I could own my data, they gave me hope that the lib left megacorporations would not dominate social media forever. Twetch wasn’t building a website, they were building an entirely new way to do social media. “If you think Twetch sucks, we are literally going to give you the tools to build a better one.” - CEO Coinyeezy Fast forward, and Twetch has turned against this fresh and exciting venture. Now they emulate those megacorporations we all hate. Shutting down their APIs, telling you they won’t “work for free”, favoring instead a closed proprietary system. I built BitSurf, a way for Twetch users to share the future with everyone else. All I got was hate. I was so confused. I thought this was the goal? I see now that new interfaces, new apps, and new functionality promised to Twetchers by way of a burgeoning developer ecosystem was just a cheap marketing tactic. Much like the socialists at OpenAI, promising AI for all, but making decisions behind closed doors to limit the freedom and activity of users—in pursuit of acting as the great central planner—a planner who knows better than the individual. Locking the NFT marketplace to creators with a “loicense”, or barring a 3rd party client are not the hallmarks of “freedomware”. Those are the product decisions of Apple Inc. I don’t think they are inherently bad, but I do think they go against the original message. For the past year I’ve been building a new version of BitSurf. I hope to release it in a couple of weeks. It will detach from trying to be a compelling Twetch interface into something entirely unique and fresh. Something that stands on its own. I don’t have any ill will towards Twetch and Twetchers, but continuing to try and integrate a technology and product from a team that DOES NOT want you to would be too costly for me. I hope to see you there 👾🏄‍♀️ text/plaintexttwetch_twtext_1675968929803.txt|"1PuQa7K62MiKCtssSLKy1kh56WWU7MtUR5SET twdata_jsonnullurlnullcommentnullmb_usernullreplynulltypepost timestampnullapptwetchinvoice$86327d19-4a2d-46ec-9da0-c2754d8f645c|"15PciHG22SNLQJXMoSUaWVi7WSqc7hCfva BITCOIN_ECDSA"18xZ3rZyEy94pYve5nLySHbgLL2jSpXBUQLXICRrgBVyNzJGZKgAuYu4Qc1A27IWLN98Q3+iOejD9kwZNDtc8PE+icjyOGh9w22VcnckScuyuGrSFJuCuDqVI/I=
